J.
Paul Duic, M.D., is a Neuro-Oncologist who specializes in
the medical management of brain tumors and spine tumors,
including central nervous system (CNS) tumors, gliomas, metastatic
tumors, and CNS lymphoma.
Dr. Duic received his undergraduate degree, Bachelor of
Science, in Biological Sciences, from Columbia University,
New York, NY magna cum laude. He obtained his medical degree
at NYU School of Medicine, New York, NY. Dr. Duic completed
a Residency in Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins University.
He also completed a Surgical Internship and three years
of Neurological Surgery Residency at UC Davis Medical Center,
Sacramento, CA. He subsequently completed a Fellowship
in Neuro-Oncology at the Neuro-Oncology Branch on the National
Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health (NIH.)
He returned to the Neuro-Oncology Branch of NIH before
joining Neurological
Surgery, P.C.
Dr. Duic has also served as a Lieutenant Commander in the
Medical Corps of the United States Naval Reserve.
At NIH Dr. Duic investigated cyclin-dependent kinase inhibition
and TRAIL-mediated apoptosis in gliomas. He coauthored several
peer reviewed papers including: “Phase I Trial of Lenalidomide
in Patients With Recurrent Primary Central Nervous System
Tumors” that was published in Clinical Cancer Research
in 2007 and “A Phase II Trial of Single Agent Bevacizumab
Followed by Bevacizumab Plus Irinotecan at Tumor Progression
in Patients with Recurrent Glioblastoma” that will
soon appear in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
He is an experienced co-investigator on multiple clinical
trials at NIH involving many novel molecularly targeted agents.
He delivers neurosurgical and medicine grand rounds and attends
multiple tumor boards. He speaks on many occasions regarding
these clinical trials and offers information on new treatments
for brain tumors.
Dr. Duic is on the Board of Advisors of ACS, Protocol Review
Committee & Cancer Care Committee of SNCH, Bioethics
Committee at Winthrop, Investigator for Radiation Therapy
Oncology Group (RTOG) & Biomedical Research Alliance
of NY (BRANY). |

Jai
Grewal, M.D., is a Neuro-Oncologist who specializes in the
management of primary brain and spine tumors, Central Nervous
System metastases, and neurological complications of cancer.
He received his undergraduate degree from Boston University,
and his medical degree from Spartan Health Sciences University.
Dr. Grewal completed his internal medicine internship at
Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut, which is affiliated
with Yale University. He then performed a residency in neurology
at the University of Texas, Southwestern. Subsequently Dr.
Grewal completed a neuro-oncology fellowship at the MD Anderson
Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
His research has involved a study of the correlation of
estrogen, progesterone and Her2/neu receptor status with
survival in breast cancer patients with leptomeningeal metastasis.
Dr. Grewal participated in designing and writing several
clinical protocols addressing radiation necrosis and venous
thromboembolism in patients with primary brain tumors.
As a Research Assistant at Children’s Hospital, Dept.
of Neuroscience, Harvard Medical School, Dr. Grewal elucidated
in vitro mechanisms of embryonic radial glial cell and astrocyte
differentiation in mice. He also studied in vivo apoptotic
mechanisms of neuronal degeneration.
Dr. Grewal is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry
and Neurology. He was the recipient of the Teva Neuroscience
Award for his achievement in neuroanatomy. He currently is
with Neurological
Surgery, P.C.

Ms. Wu obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology from the State University of New York, Albany; her nursing degree from Albany Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, and her Masters degree as a Nurse Practitioner in Family Health from The Sages Colleges, Sage Graduate School.
After working many years as an Emergency Room & trauma nurse, she has a special compassion and is very sympathetic to the needs of the underserved. She is an active member of the Nurse Practitioner Association in New York State.

Michelle Almaliah
Michelle Almaliah is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelors in Nursing from Binghamton University and her Masters degree in Nursing from Hunter-Bellevue School Nursing.
As a registered nurse, Mrs. Almaliah worked in the neuro-surgical ICU at New York University Hospital for seven years. Upon completion of her Masters degree she worked as Nurse practitioner for an Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital and as Neurosurgical Nurse Practitioner at New York University Hospital.
Mrs Almaliah has over twelve years experience in caring for brain and spine patients. Her strong knowledge base of neurosurgery enables her to deliver compassionate care. |
